UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a move to reinforce healthcare infrastructure and improve medical services for local residents, Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi conducted an inspection of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital at Dimna.
Accompanying him were ITDA Project Director Deepankar Choudhary, MGM Hospital Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent Jujhar Manjhi, department heads, Executive Engineer of Building Corporation Ujjwal Nag, and other concerned officials.
The visit aimed to assess the existing facilities and accelerate efforts to provide accessible and quality healthcare to the region.
The Deputy Commissioner visited several medical sections including the General Ward, Female Ward, Surgical Ward, Pediatric Ward, Orthopedic and Psychiatric OPD, Maternity Ward, Emergency Ward, Counseling Therapy Room, Septic Labor OT, and ICU.
During the inspection, he interacted with admitted patients and reviewed the services being provided.
He directed hospital authorities to install proper signage, floor indices, and information boards to help patients navigate the premises easily.
He also recommended that OPD slips be made available in Hindi or local languages rather than just English to ensure better understanding for patients.
In a hands-on approach, Satyarthi personally registered at the OPD counter to assess the turnaround time for registration services.
He emphasized expediting the transition from the old to the new hospital facility and reviewed the status of the ongoing shifting process.
He directed that the Operation Theaters (OT) be fully functional by June 15, and instructed the hospital management to ensure operational readiness of the OT at the Dimna Unit to reduce dependence on the main MGM campus for surgical cases. The need for procuring modern medical equipment was also reviewed and directives were issued accordingly.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed key support services such as sanitation, medicine distribution, availability of doctors and nursing staff, and the arrangement of seating and waiting areas for patients. He issued clear instructions for necessary improvements in these areas.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to developing the Dimna Unit of MGM Hospital into a reliable, well-equipped, and service-oriented health center for the local community.
The goal, he said, is to ensure accessible, quality healthcare for both rural and urban populations across the district.
