Udit Vani, Jamshedpur: A significant breakthrough was achieved by the Mango police during an anti-crime checking drive on Saturday night on Jawaharnagar Road No. 15. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven individuals involved in a major bike theft racket and the recovery of four stolen bikes.
The Chase and Arrests
During routine checking around 10 PM, police spotted three suspicious individuals riding bikes who fled the scene upon noticing the officers. A swift police chase ensued, and the suspects were apprehended. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the bikes were stolen, and the arrested individuals were linked to a large bike theft gang.
Arrested Gang Members
Following intensive interrogation, the arrested suspects revealed the identities of their fellow gang members. Based on their information, the police arrested seven additional individuals. The accused arrested include:
- Md. Firoz alias Champu (Jawaharnagar Road No. 11)
- Md. Imran (Road No. 14)
- Minhajuddin Sari alias Munnu (Ulidih Chunashah Colony)
- Md. Shahnawaz (Ulidih Chunashah Colony)
- Md. Adil (Ulidih Chunashah Colony)
- Sheikh Sajim alias Chhotu (Kapali Tajnagar Bandhugora)
- Abdul Kalam Mallik alias Kalam (Kapali Gausnagar)
Commendable Efforts by the Police Team
The operation was carried out under the leadership of DSP Bhola Prasad Singh, who coordinated a special team to ensure the success of the mission. The team included inspector Niranjan Kumar, SI Parvan Sah, Umesh Kumar Modi, Mahendra Kumar, Sohan Kumar, constable Kalachand Sah, Govind Singh, and Santosh Kumar.
Recovery and Ongoing Investigation
Police raided the premises of the arrested individuals and recovered four stolen bikes. The accused are currently being processed for judicial custody.
City SP’s Statement
City SP Kumar Shivashish addressed the press on Sunday, shedding light on the incident. He stated that this operation would significantly reduce bike thefts in the Mango area. The SP also urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately to prevent such crimes.
