
UditVani, Jamshedpur: Environment Management and Sports Department of Tata Steel organised “Greenathon- a run for Environment” at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday. The event was aimed at spreading awareness on preserving environment. The run was followed by plantation of saplings near JRD Tata Sports Complex by all dignitaries present.
The Run which started from JRD Tata Sports Complex was flagged off by Uttam Singh, Vice-President Iron Making, Tata Steel. Sanjeev Tiwary, Vice President Tata Workers Union and Jitendra Prasad Singh, Regional Officer, Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board were also present on this occasion. The event witnessed presence of over 1000 participants cutting across all age groups.
Tata Steel observes the World Environment Day and Sustainability Month every year by engaging all stakeholders through conducting several awareness programmes across its operating locations. Recently. Environment Management and Sports Department of the company organised a Drawing and Elocution competition for the students in different categories at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The theme for World Environment Day 2022 is “Only One Earth” with the focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”.
