UditVani, Jamshedpur: Located in Ch Area near Marine Drive behind the Horse Riding Club Jamshedpur Nature Trail is setup for young and old to get out and explore nature.
A vast expanse of waste land measuring about 21-acres has been converted into Jamshedpur Nature Trail by Tata Steel.
The Nature Trail introduces a mini forest concept with dense tree plantation of native species and bamboo plantation with more than 21000 tree saplings and green cover comprising of myriad ecosystems.
Jamshedpur Nature Trail design has been developed as three layers, namely, Shrivana, Mahavana, Tapovana having derived their significance from the forest classification in ancient times. The three layers have been sub-divided into 7 zones having adequate spaces for meditation, night camping, bird watching, and small group activities.
A meandering walking trail cuts cross the three layers with benches as resting places all along.The natural terrain has been retained to create different levels having a nice balance of densely planted zones and open grasslands where three Gazebos have been strategically located for viewing points.
Other features and amenities in the park are street lighting, benches and resting places, public toilets, and an FRP bridge over the rivulet from CH area side to the Marine drive side.
The trail will be inaugurated by N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons on March 2, 2023 during the 184th birth anniversary celebrations of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. This year’s theme of Founder’s Day is Greennovation-Make Tomorrow Green.
Jamshedpur Nature Trail will be opened for all citizens of Jamshedpur. As part of its sustainability initiatives, Tata Steel envisaged an urban Waste land to Urban Forest concept.
The project was formulated with the broad objectives of increasing the green cover in Jamshedpur, build eco habitats, revive natural water bodies and wetland areas and Improve aesthetics in the residential areas by creating public open recreational spaces. Jamshedpur Nature Trail has been developed by Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (Tata Steel UISL) within a period of two years.
