Uditvani: A blistering heatwave is on the horizon for Jharkhand, with meteorological forecasts warning of a significant spike in temperatures across several districts starting this weekend.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an alert for intensifying heat conditions, especially from May 10 onward.
While the current weather remains dry and skies mostly clear, the state is expected to reel under severe heat in the coming days.
Initial forecasts indicate that Dumka, Pakur, and Godda districts may be the first to experience heatwave conditions on May 10. By May 11, the heat is likely to spread further, enveloping Deoghar, Jamtara, Sahibganj, and other parts of the Santhal Pargana region in oppressive temperatures.
This anticipated heatwave is being driven by a dominant east-west trough stretching from southwest Rajasthan to north Jharkhand, in combination with a cyclonic circulation impacting eastern and central India.
This weather system, positioned about 0.9 Km above sea level, is disrupting local patterns and accelerating heat buildup.
Authorities have urged residents, particularly vulnerable groups like the elderly, children, and outdoor laborers, to take all necessary precautions. District administrations are expected to ramp up public awareness efforts, ensure availability of drinking water, and restrict strenuous activities during peak heat hours.
The IMD has advised citizens to stay indoors during the afternoon, remain hydrated, and keep track of updated weather bulletins. With temperatures set to soar, early preparation and sensible precautions are essential to stay safe during this extreme weather phase.
Keep cool, stay safe, and protect yourself from the heat.
