Uditvani, Jamshedpur: As per the directives of the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand, the Jamshedpur Police organized the fourth edition of the “Public Grievance Redressal Program” today at Michael John Auditorium in Bistupur.
The event was held under the guidance of the Inspector General and leadership of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), with the primary objective of directly addressing citizens’ complaints, ensuring impartial resolution, and strengthening police-public dialogue.
During the hearing, a total of 296 previously received public complaints were reviewed.
Most of these were resolved on the spot, while a few cases were marked for further investigation and appropriate action.
The major issues included land disputes, family conflicts, cybercrimes, fraud, missing persons, domestic violence, social harassment, and problems related to government schemes.
Residents from various police station jurisdictions personally presented their grievances before senior officers, who attentively listened to each case.
The officers then instructed the respective station in-charges to carry out fair, timely, and lawful investigations to ensure justice for the complainants.
The SSP emphasized that the police department is fully aware of its responsibilities toward the public.
He stated that the initiative is not merely a formality but a concrete step towards transparent and accountable governance. He assured the citizens that their concerns would be prioritised and dealt with sensitivity and seriousness by the police administration.
The event witnessed the participation of City SP, Rural SP, DSP-rank officers, all police station in-charges, and representatives from various departments.
The program was meticulously organized to ensure that every complainant had the opportunity to be heard and that no individual was overlooked.
Public facilitation centers were also set up to assist citizens with complaint submissions, registrations, and status updates.
Public response to the initiative was highly encouraging. A large number of citizens attended the program and submitted their complaints.
Several grievances were resolved on the spot, prompting many attendees to express appreciation and gratitude toward the police department for this proactive step.
At the conclusion of the event, police officials announced that similar programs would be organized regularly in the future.
The aim is to reduce the need for citizens to make repeated visits to police stations or government offices and to ensure swift resolution of their issues.
Senior officers noted that this initiative reflects the people-oriented approach of the police and is laying the foundation for a new era of trust between the police and the public.
