Uditvani, Jamshedpur: The steel city is all set to witness a burst of innovation and youthful energy as it hosts the 20th edition of the National Creativity Olympiad (NCO 2025) on April 19 and 20, organized by The Institution of Engineers (India), Jamshedpur Local Centre (IEI JLC).
At a press briefing, key organizers including Dr. S K Narang, N Rajesh Kumar (Organising Chairman), Satish Kr Tiwary (Chairman, IEI JLC), and S D Bhattacharjee shared their vision for this year’s Olympiad — a celebration of science, technology, creativity, and sustainability designed to fuel young minds across India.
The competition is split into two compelling domains:
* Direct Domain : Featuring a two-tiered technical and analytical challenge, this segment will see participation from 24 top-tier teams, handpicked through a rigorous selection process from across the country. Teams from Jamshedpur and cities like Kanpur, Guwahati, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Tirupati, and even remote regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will converge to compete.
Morning Session: Analytical Challenge – Modeled on a Shark Tank-style setup, teams will brainstorm real-world solutions using provided materials.
Afternoon Session: Technical Build – Students will be tested on their ability to apply advanced concepts in physics, hydraulics, and pneumatics to create practical solutions.
All tools and materials will be supplied on-site, ensuring fairness. Top teams will win trophies, while every participant earns a certificate for their effort and innovation.
* Open Domain: Tackling the Planet’s Pressing Problems
Exclusively for local school participants, the Open Domain Challenge is centered around the critical global theme: “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.” Students from Classes VI–XII will design working models offering practical, sustainable solutions to land degradation and water scarcity.
Entries will be judged on originality, feasibility, and scientific grounding, with the best projects receiving trophies and commendations in Junior (VI–VIII) and Senior (IX–XII) categories.
