Jamshedpur : Panic gripped the Bagunnagar area under Sidgora police station limits on Friday when locals discovered the body of a young man near the riverbank.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Suraj Lal, a resident of Road Number 5 in Bagunnagar.
According to sources, Suraj had left home on the evening of April 9, telling his family he was going out to drink.
He did not return that night and had been missing since then. On Friday, passersby noticed a body stuck among water hyacinths near the pathway leading to Baliguma across the river. The body was found wedged between stones.
Local residents immediately informed the Sidgora police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the body. It has been sent for post-mortem examination.
As of now, no formal written complaint has been lodged by the victim’s family. Police are investigating the matter from all possible angles.
