UditVani, Jamshedpur: A 32-year-old man, identified as Shekhar Sandil, was shot dead past mid-night in Sitaramdera under mysterious circumstances.
The incident took place around 12.30 am near the Peepal School area of Devanagar, where the victim lived with his family.
According to his sister, Saraswati Das, she found Shekhar lying outside their house in a pool of blood when she returned home late at night.
He was unconscious and had suffered severe bleeding.
Neighbours immediately informed the Sitaramdera police, who reached the spot and rushed him to MGM Hospital.
Despite emergency treatment, doctors declared him dead due to excessive bleeding and critical injuries. Medical staff confirmed that Shekhar was shot from close range.
Shekhar worked at a private parking lot near New Court and usually returned home late at night.
In her statement to the police, Saraswati alleged that Shekhar had an ongoing dispute with two local youths — Rahul Singh and his associate, known locally as ‘W’, both residents of Devanagar.
She expressed suspicion that the two may have orchestrated the attack due to the prolonged tension.
Local residents claimed that Rahul Singh has been running an illegal liquor distillery in the area, often causing disturbance and conflict.
Shekhar had reportedly confronted Rahul several times over the issue, and the two had heated arguments in the past.
The family alleges that Rahul had even threatened Shekhar on earlier occasions.
Police have registered a murder case and launched a search for the two suspects.
A forensic team examined the crime scene and collected samples, while authorities are scanning CCTV footage from the neighbourhood.
The station in-charge said that the investigation is progressing swiftly and assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
