
Udit Vani, Jamshedpur : XLRI Jamshedpur celebrated the graduation of the 4th batch from the Fr. McGrath Skill Development Centre, honouring 35 youth from underserved communities who completed a six-month training programme in Computer Skills & Data Entry (27 students), Garment & Fashion Designing (3), and Plumbing & Electrical Wiring (5).
Held on XLRI’s Jamshedpur campus, the ceremony was graced by key dignitaries including Fr. S. George, S.J. (Director, XLRI), Fr. Jerry Cutinha, S.J. (Provincial), Fr. Donald D’Silva, S.J. (Convenor), Dr. Sanjay Patro (Dean-Academics) and Mr. Harbhajan Singh (Chief Strategy & HR, XLRI Delhi-NCR).

In his address, Fr. Donald D’Silva recalled the centre’s roots in XLRI’s Platinum Jubilee and its dedication to Fr. McGrath, a Jesuit educator who championed the dignity of labour. Fr. George encouraged students to see this milestone as the start of their journey, stressing the power of opportunity and resilience.
Some graduates have already received job offers, including a placement at India Post.
The event concluded with students sharing personal stories of transformation, followed by a vibrant cultural performance.
The initiative continues to reflect XLRI’s mission of inclusive growth and education for the greater good.
