Uditvani Jamshedpur : XLRI – Xavier School of Management, India’s oldest and among its most prestigious B-schools, ceremoniously inaugurated the academic year 2025–27 with a soul-stirring Prayer Service and Welcome Ceremony at the historic Tata Auditorium.
The event marked the formal induction of 429 students across the institute’s flagship academic programs.
The incoming cohort comprises:
* PGDM (Business Management) – 215 students
* PGDM (Human Resource Management) – 180 students
* PGDM (Logistics & Supply Chain Management – Rutgers Dual Degree) – 14 students
* Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) – 20 students

Delivering the keynote address, Fr. (Dr.) Sebastian George, S.J., Director of XLRI, extended a heartfelt welcome and urged students to uphold the values of accountability, perseverance, and mutual respect.
“Welcome to XLRI – your new family. Behave responsibly, support one another, and stay committed to your goals, especially academics. Learn from failures, discover your strengths, and avoid distractions. Learn, unlearn, and relearn. Understand the distinction between problems, which have solutions, and predicaments, which demand thoughtful navigation, ” said Fr. George.
Interfaith Prayer & Ethical Commitment Set the Tone
A hallmark of XLRI’s inclusive ethos, the Prayer Service was led by Fr. Donald D’Silva, S.J., Dean of Administration & Finance, and Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean of Academics. Scriptural readings from the Bhagavad Gita, Bible, Guru Granth Sahib, and Quran reflected the institution’s deep-rooted commitment to spiritual wisdom, unity in diversity, and ethical leadership.
The ceremony culminated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp—a symbol of enlightenment—and the collective Honour Pledge. Administered by Dr. Patro, the pledge affirmed the students’ commitment to integrity, academic excellence, inclusion, and societal service.
A Legacy of Leadership & Vision for the Future
A video presentation capturing XLRI’s rich legacy and forward-looking vision offered new students a glimpse into the institution’s storied past and its aspirations for shaping global leaders.
This was followed by mentor interaction sessions, encouraging camaraderie and community-building from day one.
