Jamshedpur : In a heartfelt move to foster emotionally intelligent and value-driven education, Tarapore School, in collaboration with Initiatives of Change (IofC), organized a transformative two-day workshop on Compassion, Empathy, and Mindfulness for teachers from across Jamshedpur.
The workshop focused on equipping educators with essential life skills to nurture inclusive, emotionally resilient, and mindful learning environments.
At a time when academic pressures continue to mount, this initiative spotlighted the importance of introspection, emotional well-being, and value-based education.
The event was graced by chief guest Colonel Vinay Ahuja, Commanding Officer of 37 Jharkhand Battalion NCC, and Guest of Honour Saurav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation. Both dignitaries praised the initiative, emphasizing the need to integrate emotional intelligence into the educational framework.
“This workshop is a timely intervention that goes beyond textbooks and nurtures the very core of what it means to be an educator and a guide to the next generation,” remarked Saurav Roy.
The sessions were led by a stellar panel of experts—Vijayam Kartha, a veteran educationist and values-learning pioneer; Dr. Sangeeta Srivastava, an esteemed academic leader; Dr. Amit Mukherjee, wellness advocate; and Saloni Priya, psychologist and founder of the Ummeed Foundation. Through a blend of reflective exercises, group activities, and practical strategies, the workshop empowered teachers to bring compassion and mindfulness into their daily teaching practice.
Coordinated by Salil Roy from IofC and Principal Ishita Dey of Tarapore School, the event stood as a powerful testimony to holistic learning.
“Education is not just about intellect, but also about heart and conscience. This workshop embodies our commitment to whole-person education,” said Principal Ishita Dey.
With participation from over 100 educators, the workshop concluded with a renewed collective mission—to inspire students not just academically, but also with empathy, mindfulness, and moral integrity.
