UditVani Jamshedpur: A 30-year-old woman – Anita Singh, a resident of Bhula village in the Bodam police station area, died after setting herself on fire at her home late on Saturday night.
She had poured kerosene on herself and lit the fire. In critical condition, her family rushed her to MGM Hospital the same night, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment on Sunday.
Anita’s husband, Shrimant Singh, had moved to Bangalore for employment about three months ago. Social worker Rajni Kant Singh, a resident of Bhula, stated that Shrimant used to send money home every week to support the family. However, Anita’s mental health had started deteriorating due to loneliness.
For the past few days, she had been unwell and suffering from stress, which led her to take this tragic step. After the incident, their two children—Munish Singh (3 years old) and Sandeep Singh (1.5 years old)—were seen clinging to their mother’s body and crying inconsolably, creating a heartbreaking scene in the village on Sunday.
Upon receiving the news, Shrimant Singh left Bangalore and is expected to return home by Monday.
Reports indicate that he previously worked at a hotel in Jamshedpur but later moved to Bangalore due to fewer work opportunities.
Shrimant had lost both his parents before marriage, and Anita used to live at home with their two sons. She reportedly became very sad and lonely whenever her husband was away.
