UditVani, Jamshedpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today indicated that winter is now approaching its final stretch, with dry weather dominating across Jharkhand and daytime temperatures showing a gradual upward trend.
Met statistics suggested that Ranchi reported a maximum temperature of 28.9°C, marginally 0.2°C below normal, while the minimum settled at 12.4°C, 2.2°C below normal.
Jamshedpur registered a maximum of 33.5°C, in line with normal levels, and a minimum of 15.3°C, slightly below normal by 0.9°C.
Daltonganj recorded a maximum of 33.8°C, which was 2.8°C above normal, while Bokaro Thermal touched 33.2°C, a notable 4.4°C above the seasonal average.
Chaibasa emerged as the hottest location in the state with a maximum of 34.4°C, 4.1°C above normal.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Chaibasa and Seraikela at 34.4°C, whereas the lowest minimum temperature was observed at Khunti at 10.4°C.
No rainfall was reported from any station during the past 24 hours.
The lowest visibility was noted at Jamshedpur (MO), where it dropped to 2000 metres.
Data from Automated Weather Stations further reflected the warming trend.
Baharagora in East Singhbhum recorded 34.3°C, Seraikela 34.4°C, Jaganathpur in West Singhbhum 31.8°C, and Simdega 31.2°C.
Latehar remained comparatively cooler with a maximum of 24.6°C.
On the synoptic front, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over northeast Assam and adjoining areas at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
Another such circulation continues over West Rajasthan and neighbourhood, extending up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level. In addition, a trough in the lower-level westerlies, with its axis at 1.5 km above mean sea level roughly along Longitude 92°E to the north of Latitude 23°N, remains in place.
With winter in its last phase, the consistent rise in maximum temperatures and continued dry conditions signal a gradual seasonal transition across Jharkhand, even as mornings and nights retain a mild chill in select regions.
