UditVani, Jamshedpur : A gentle winter chill has begun to wrap Jharkhand, with mornings and evenings turning noticeably cooler across the state.
Fog and mist continue to mark the early hours, while the afternoons remain clear and dry — a classic sign of the season’s gradual shift.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, fog or mist is expected during morning hours from November 6 to 9, followed by mainly clear skies and dry weather during the day.
No significant synoptic system currently influences Jharkhand’s weather, though an induced cyclonic circulation persists over Punjab at around 1.5 km above mean sea level. This system, however, is unlikely to affect local conditions.
Minimum temperatures dipped across major cities and towns on Wednesday. Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 15.6°C, while Jamshedpur logged 17.2°C. Daltonganj registered 16.5°C, whereas Bano in Simdega, continuing its trend as one of the state’s coolest pockets, recorded Jharkhand’s lowest minimum temperature at 13.9°C.
Over the past 24 hours, dry weather prevailed across the state. On Tuesday, Medininagar (Daltonganj) recorded the highest maximum temperature of 32.0°C, highlighting the stark contrast between warm days and chilly nights — a signature of early winter.
With the dip in mercury, residents have begun pulling out light woollens for morning walks, school hours, and late-evening outings. Mist-laden fields and reduced early-morning visibility were reported from several districts, though conditions improve rapidly as the sun climbs.
Farmers, meanwhile, are benefiting from the prevailing dry spell, which is aiding paddy harvesting and post-harvest activities across rural belts.
Meteorologists expect temperatures to fall steadily through November as north-westerly winds strengthen.
With winter slowly setting in, Jharkhand is poised to enter its cool-season rhythm of crisp mornings, bright afternoons, and chilly nights.
