
UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a concerning development, a wild elephant was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Hevan village under Nimdih police station area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Tuesday night.
The carcass was discovered by villagers early Wednesday morning when they were heading to their fields. They immediately alerted local representatives, police, and the forest department.
A team from the forest department swiftly reached the spot and began an investigation. The exact cause of the elephant’s death remains unknown. Veterinary experts have been called in to conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the reason behind the sudden demise.
According to forest officials, three wild elephants were recently spotted in the Hevan area, and the deceased elephant was one among them. The remaining two elephants are currently being monitored closely to ensure their safety.
Notably, this is the second such incident in the region this month. On June 5, a tusker that had separated from its herd was found dead in Aamdabeda village.
The back-to-back deaths of wild elephants have raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of the forest department’s protection measures.
Forest officials have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and strict action will be taken if any negligence is found.
The recurring deaths of these protected species highlight an alarming environmental issue and the urgent need for stronger conservation efforts.
