UditVani, Jamshedpur : West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand has once again emerged as the focal point of India’s anti-Naxal operations, as security forces launched a large-scale combing and encounter operation in the dense forest region under the Kiriburu police station limits.
According to preliminary inputs from ground sources, a fierce exchange of fire took place between Naxal cadres and joint security forces, in which several ultras are suspected to have been neutralised.
Sources indicate that the operation was well-coordinated and intelligence-driven, with aerial surveillance support provided through a helicopter, underscoring the seriousness of the mission.
Senior police officials have acknowledged the encounter and confirmed that the operation is still ongoing, while stating that final casualty figures will be released only after a thorough area sanitisation and verification process.
Security agencies believe the encounter site to be a key Naxal transit and hideout zone, often used for movement, training, and logistical support.
The region has long posed operational challenges due to difficult terrain, dense forests, and cross-border movement with neighbouring districts.
This operation gains added significance in light of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s repeated assertion that the country is moving decisively towards the complete elimination of Left Wing Extremism.
The Centre has set an ambitious target to eradicate Naxalism by the end of the year, combining aggressive field operations with development-focused governance.
Currently, only a handful of districts nationwide continue to witness active Naxal presence, with West Singhbhum remaining one of the most sensitive and strategically critical zones. Security forces remain on high alert, and additional reinforcements have been deployed to prevent any retaliatory movement.
