UditVani, Jamshedpur : The West Bengal police conducted a raid in Jamshedpur, arresting two prime suspects involved in the brutal daylight murder of a gold trader and the looting of 15 Kg of gold.
The operation is linked to a sensational robbery and killing that took place in Shambhunath Das Lane, shocking the local business community.
According to police sources, a gang of armed criminals posed as customers and entered the jewellery shop of gold trader Shankar Jana.
They overpowered him, looted a large quantity of gold, and killed him before fleeing the scene. Jana’s body, with his hands and legs tied, was later recovered from the shop.
The criminals had sprayed red chilli powder into Jana’s eyes to immobilize him, disabled the CCTV cameras, and carried out the planned heist before escaping with the ornaments.
During interrogation, the two arrested suspects revealed that a portion of the looted gold had been sent to Jamshedpur after the crime.
Acting on this lead, West Bengal Police conducted a raid in Jamshedpur’s Sitaramdera area, where two individuals — Chandan and Prince — were arrested.
Sources indicate that the gang had been keeping a close watch on major gold consignments for some time and meticulously planned the attack.
