UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand has received a significant push for railway infrastructure in the Union Budget 2026-27, with a record allocation of Rs 7,536 crore aimed at modernization, expansion and passenger safety.
Addressing a press conference via video conferencing from New Delhi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Central Budget has made a substantial increase in railway allocations, with a strong focus on safety measures, freight operations and high-speed connectivity.
The allocation for Jharkhand marks a sharp rise compared to the average annual outlay of Rs 457 crore during 2009-2014, reflecting the Centre’s renewed emphasis on strengthening rail infrastructure in the mineral-rich state.
The enhanced investment will cover new track construction, capacity expansion, station redevelopment and safety augmentation across the state.
Under the ambitious Amrit Station Scheme, 57 railway stations in Jharkhand have been identified for comprehensive redevelopment to improve passenger amenities and overall travel experience.
The Railway Minister noted that such large-scale investments are expected to boost regional connectivity, facilitate industrial growth and create employment opportunities in Jharkhand.
During the video conference, Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, was present at the SER Headquarters in Garden Reach, Kolkata.
He later interacted with media persons and highlighted the transformative impact of the increased budgetary support for Jharkhand’s rail network.
