Jamshedpur : In a swift operation, police seized an illegal pistol from a rented house in Haludbani Kochakuli under the Parsudih police station area on Monday morning.
Two individuals, including the tenant Deepak Sahu alias Bhagna and the alleged arms supplier Ajay Kumar, have been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
City SP Kumar Shivashish informed during a press conference here today that Parsudih police station in-charge Md. Faiz Ahmed received a tip-off around 8:45 am regarding the presence of an illegal weapon at the rented residence of Deepak Sahu, located in a house owned by Krishna Sinku. Acting promptly, a police team raided the location and conducted a search.
During the search, a 7.65 mm pistol was recovered from a cupboard in Deepak’s house.
During interrogation, Deepak confessed that he had purchased the weapon three months ago with the intention of killing Chhotray Murmu, the Mukhiya of Harharguttu.
He admitted to buying the pistol from his friend Ajay Kumar, who resides near Durgabadi Ground in Bagbera DB Road, for Rs 30,000.
Based on Deepak’s confession, police also arrested Ajay Kumar, who admitted to selling the firearm. A formal seizure list was prepared, and both accused have been sent to judicial custody.
The City SP further revealed that Ajay Kumar has a history of criminal activity. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
