UditVani, Jamshedpur: Samvaad 2024, which started on November 15, concluded today in Jamshedpur. As part of the event, five books were launched by Samvaad Fellowship alumni, highlighting diverse aspects of tribal culture, including folksongs, food culture, and community traditions.
The following books were launched:
1. Sumi Apu Asu Le by Inakali Assumi (Samvaad Fellow 2022) – A collection of ten pivotal Sumi folksongs from Nagaland.
2. Traditional Kitchen Practices and Recipes of Ladakh by Rashida Kousar (Samvaad Fellow 2022) – A documentation of Ladakhi kitchen traditions and recipes, at risk of disappearing.
3. Mundari Folksongs by Binit Barla (Samvaad Fellow 2023) – A guide to Mundari folksongs, aimed at music researchers, experts, and enthusiasts.
4. Food Culture of the Koya Tribe by Payam Rajendra Prasad (Samvaad Fellow 2019) – A comprehensive exploration of the food culture of the Koya tribe.
5. Visual Documentation of Assamese Farming Communities by Kirat Brahma (Samvaad Fellow 2022) – A video journal illustrating the lives and traditions of Bodo tribe farming communities.
These books were launched to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of India’s tribal communities.
