Jamshedpur : A tragic road accident occurred on Thursday morning near Barabanki under the MGM police station area, resulting in the death of a man and a woman riding a scooter. The incident took place around 8 a.m.
The deceased have been identified as Anjana Mahato (34) and Rajesh Suren (43). According to reports, the two were traveling from Pardih to Barabanki on a scooter when a speeding passenger bus rammed into them from behind.
The collision was so intense that both riders were thrown off the scooter and sustained critical injuries.
Eyewitnesses said that after the impact, the bus dragged the scooter for nearly two kilometers before halting. Locals immediately informed the police about the incident.
Police from MGM station reached the spot and rushed the injured to MGM Hospital, where both succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Rajesh Suren was a resident of Birsanagar Zone No. 10 and worked as a civil in-charge at a real estate firm. Anjana Mahato, a native of Baharagora, also worked in the same company located in Barabanki.
The police have seized the bus, which was reportedly traveling from Paras, Jamshedpur toward Odisha. However, the bus driver fled the spit and is currently absconding.
Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
