Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is set to witness a spell of turbulent weather, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across the state from April 12 to 15.
On April 12, strong winds up to 50–60 kmph are expected in the northeastern and southeastern regions, while western and central areas may experience winds of 30–40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The unstable weather is likely to persist through April 13 to 15, with similar conditions forecast at isolated places each day.
Meteorologists attribute this weather pattern to a combination of systems:
* A trough running from northeast Madhya Pradesh to Bangladesh via Jharkhand, up to 1.5 km above sea level.
* An upper-air cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim at 3.1 km.
* Another trough extending from this circulation to the Westcentral Bay of Bengal at the same altitude.
Authorities urge citizens to remain cautious, avoid open areas during lightning activity, and secure weak structures, as high winds may cause damage or uproot trees.
