Jamshedpur: After a period of relative calm, thefts have once again surged in the Adityapur Industrial Area under the jurisdiction of Adityapur police station.
Reports indicate that organized gangs have resumed operations, causing concern among local businesses and residents.
Following repeated incidents of theft, a special task force was earlier formed under the leadership of then Station In-charge Rajeev Kumar Singh. This initiative had initially proven effective, leading to the arrest and judicial custody of several criminals. However, in the past two months, a spike in thefts has been observed again.
The latest theft occurred near the ARCFPL Unit-1, where a vehicle (registration JH05P-2578) parked outside the company was stolen. The incident took place early Monday morning. When the vehicle owner arrived later, the vehicle was missing.
The owner, Abhay Kumar Singh, a resident of Babakuti and associated with RIT, lodged a formal complaint at the Adityapur Police Station. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
Singh, who has been parking his vehicle near the same company for 15 years and runs a business with the firm, stated that he parked his vehicle around 5 PM on Sunday and left for home. Upon returning the next morning, the vehicle had vanished. He also revealed that another 407 vehicle was stolen from the same location two months ago.
The recent rise in thefts has led to renewed focus on security in the industrial area. Previously, a task force was formed under the directions of the Superintendent of Police to tackle such issues. Several criminals had been apprehended under the supervision of Rajeev Kumar Singh.
While thefts had stopped for nearly three to four months, the current developments have reignited concerns. It remains to be seen how the current officer in charge will handle the situation and whether stringent measures will be reinstated to curb these incidents.
