UditVani, Jamshedpur : Continuous heavy rainfall across Jharkhand has brought major disruptions to rail services, particularly at the Tatanagar Railway Yard under Chakradharpur Division.
Due to severe waterlogging, several key train services have been either cancelled or rescheduled in the interest of passenger safety.

Trains Cancelled Today:
1. 68086/68085 Barkakana – Tatanagar – Barkakana Passenger:
This vital local train, connecting coal belt regions with Kolhan, will not operate in either direction today. Daily commuters, including laborers and students, are expected to be significantly affected.
2. 18602/18601 Hatia – Tatanagar – Hatia Express:
The express train linking Ranchi with Jamshedpur has also been cancelled. The move is likely to impact office-goers, traders, and railway employees.
Train Rescheduled:
18626 Hatia – Purnia Court Express:
Originally scheduled to depart in the morning, the train will now leave Hatia at 2:00 PM due to track issues between Silli and Kita caused by soil erosion from persistent rain.
Tatanagar Yard Submerged:
Railway operations have been severely hindered as water has inundated several tracks in the Tatanagar yard. Engineers and mechanical staff are working with pumping machines to drain the water, but ongoing rain continues to obstruct the process.
Passenger Woes:
Chaos has been reported at stations as many passengers learned about cancellations only after arriving the station.
Students and elderly passengers also expressed distress over last-minute disruptions.
Railway’s Appeal:
Railway authorities have urged passengers to rely only on official sources for updates and avoid rumors.
Extra pumps and staff have been deployed to manage the waterlogging, and operations will resume once conditions improve.
Passengers are advised to call 139 or visit the IRCTC website/app for the latest information.
The early monsoon spell has exposed serious gaps in preparedness, especially at a key junction like Tatanagar.
The situation underscores the need for more robust, weather-resilient railway infrastructure in the region.
