UditVani, Jamshedpur : A car caught fire outside Tatanagar Railway Station on this morning, triggering panic among passengers and onlookers. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the main gate of the station, when a Honda Jazz (JH 05 BN 5846) suddenly went up in flames. The car belongs to Srinivas Nayak, a resident of Gamharia.
According to information, Srinivas had reached the station with his wife to see off their son who was travelling by the Duronto Express. The three had gone inside the station, and on their return, they were shocked to find their car engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle at the time, preventing a major tragedy.
Upon receiving the information, the Railway Police, the local police station team and the fire department reached the spot. As the fire was spreading rapidly, one fire engine was deployed to control the blaze.
Considering the intensity of the flames, a JCB machine was also called in to speed up the firefighting process. After nearly half an hour of effort, the fire was completely extinguished.
Traffic movement outside the main gate was briefly disrupted, but normalcy returned once the flames were brought under control.
Initial investigation suggests a technical fault may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause will be confirmed after further inquiry. A large crowd had gathered at the spot, but police dispersed onlookers to maintain safety.
While there were no casualties due to the prompt response of the fire brigade, the car was completely gutted. The incident created a brief period of commotion in the station area.
