
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Tata Steel Zoological Society (TSZS) celebrated its 36th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and a spirit of togetherness at the Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP).
The Society was founded on January 16, 1990 by late Russi Mody, marking a significant milestone in the field of wildlife conservation, education, and public engagement.
The celebration began with a cake-cutting ceremony, which was jointly performed by Raghunath Pandey, President, TSZS Workers’ Union; Dr. Naim Akhtar, Director, Tata Steel Zoological Park; and Vikas Kumar, Member HR, TSZS. The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Sanjay Kumar Mahato, Curator; Dr. Seema Rani, Education Officer; and Dr. M. Palit, along with staff members of the zoo.
Addressing the gathering, Raghunath Pandey and Dr. Naim Akhtar emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, sincerity, and honesty in work. They urged all employees to continue their efforts towards glorifying the Tata Steel Zoological Park and to work collectively for the progress of the zoo. They highlighted that the objectives of the zoo extend beyond visitor experience and include the vital responsibility of nature conservation and protection of wild animal species.
As part of the celebration, 80 undergraduate students from Karim City College, Department of Zoology and Botany, who had completed their internship at the zoo, were felicitated with certificates. The students also shared their experiences and learning gained during their internship, expressing appreciation for the exposure to wildlife management and conservation practices.
On this occasion, the Best Employee of the Year Award was conferred upon Samranjan Mahato in recognition of his outstanding contribution and dedicated service. Additionally, to encourage and boost morale, the Best Newcomer Employee Award was presented to Vishwajeet Mazumdar, an employee of Quess Corp Ltd.
To mark the auspicious day and foster camaraderie among staff members, a staff picnic was also organized, serving as an annual gathering and celebration of unity and shared commitment.
The 36th Foundation Day celebration reaffirmed TSZS’s long-standing commitment to conservation, education, and excellence in zoo management.
