Jamshedpur : Marking a major milestone in its mission to uplift rural youth, Tata Steel Foundation announced that 70 young individuals from Jharkhand and Odisha secured employment in April 2025 alone.
This is part of a broader success story, with a total of 213 placements recorded in FY 2024–25, and 1,431 youth placed since the inception of the initiative—38 of whom have secured overseas opportunities.
Through its support of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in partnership with the governments of Jharkhand and Odisha, Tata Steel Foundation has built a robust skill development ecosystem.
These ITIs offer both technical and non-technical courses tailored to the needs of students from underserved communities, ensuring they are industry-ready.
The Foundation’s pioneering work began with ITI Tamar in 2012—preceding the Government of India’s Skill India Mission. Today, four ITIs operate under a Public-Private Partnership model, transforming vocational training into a launchpad for long-term success.
Captain Amitabh, Head – Skill Development at Tata Steel Foundation, remarked, “The best thing we have been able to achieve is transforming ITI training into a source of inspiration—especially for students from marginalised backgrounds. Our consistent 100% placement record, including foreign placements, stands as a strong testimony to the success of this transformation.”
A standout achievement was seen in eight students from Masti Ki Pathshala, the Foundation’s flagship educational initiative, who secured positions with Tata Marcopolo after completing a one-year diploma at ITI Tamar. With starting packages of ₹3.2 lakh per annum, many of these students are first-generation learners stepping into formal employment for the first time.
Masti Ki Pathshala works to reintegrate out-of-school children into education through flexible bridge courses. Some graduates have gone on to complete Class 10 at reputed schools and further their skills through ITI internships, shaping promising careers.
Further highlighting the programme’s global reach, several ITI graduates have landed jobs in Dubai and Hong Kong, earning a minimum of ₹1.5 lakh per month—underscoring the global relevance and high quality of the training provided.
With a curriculum spanning manufacturing, capital goods, automotive, electrical, mechanical, and business development sectors, these ITIs continue to attract youth from some of the most remote regions, driven by the dream of a better future.
Tata Steel Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to inclusive growth, education, and livelihood development—playing a pivotal role in advancing India’s skilling landscape.
