UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a significant step toward empowering rural women and promoting community-led growth, senior officials from Tata Steel’s Corporate Services department reached out to women entrepreneurs at Panchayat Bhavan, Tetla, in Potka block of East Singhbhum district.
The interaction was held with members of Pragatti Udyog Mahila Samiti — a collective of self-help groups supported by the Tata Steel Foundation. The visit aimed to encourage dialogue, nurture local enterprise, and celebrate indigenous art and culture.

The visiting delegation included D.B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Corporate Services; Varun Bajaj, Chief, Town Infrastructure & Logistics; and Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief, Sports.
During the visit, the women showcased an impressive range of handmade products such as natural soaps, traditional jewellery, and ethnic garments. The corporate team also participated in a hands-on session on Sohrai painting — an ancient tribal art form symbolizing the region’s cultural identity.
The Tata Steel officials shared valuable insights on marketing strategies, product presentation, and skill development, motivating the women to explore wider markets and leverage digital platforms. Their interaction received an enthusiastic response, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration between the company and the community.

In a gesture of support, the team donated sewing machines to the self-help groups to enhance livelihood opportunities and promote sustainable income generation.
This initiative underscores Tata Steel’s steadfast commitment to inclusive development, women’s empowerment, and the preservation of traditional art forms, reinforcing its long-standing vision of community-driven progress.
