UditVani, Jamshedpur : Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to set up an 80 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project.
The project will integrate advanced solar, wind, and battery storage systems to ensure a stable supply of green power during peak demand hours, thereby strengthening grid reliability. Scheduled for completion within 24 months, the initiative is expected to generate around 315 million units (MUs) of clean electricity annually, while reducing over 0.25 million tons of CO₂ emissions each year.
A key highlight is the 4-hour peak power supply with 90% availability, which will help Tata Power Mumbai Distribution meet rising energy demand as well as its Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) set by the state regulatory commission.
Once operational, the project’s output will be seamlessly integrated into Tata Power’s Mumbai distribution network, supplying reliable, low-emission electricity to nearly 8 lakh residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
With this addition, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity reaches 11.3 GW, including 5.6 GW of operational capacity (4.6 GW solar and 1 GW wind). The company continues to expand its renewable portfolio, reinforcing its leadership in India’s clean energy transition and supporting the country’s Net Zero goals.
