
UditVani, Jamshedpur : National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur is proud to announce the appointment of Sunil Alagh, a distinguished industrialist, as the new Chairman of its Board of Governors (BOG).
His appointment has been made by the President of India.
Upon his arrival at the campus, Alagh was warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Prof. (Dr.) Gautam Sutradhar, who felicitated him with a shawl, memento, and bouquet.
Alagh visited the campus to review ongoing institutional activities and engage in discussions about the future development of the institute.
Addressing a gathering at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, which included Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and representatives from print and digital media, Alagh expressed optimism about the institute’s future.
He shared his vision for enhancing the national ranking of NIT Jamshedpur and emphasized the importance of improving key parameters such as infrastructure, innovation, and academic excellence.
Encouraging the academic community, he said, “Keep learning continuously, stay informed, and keep updating yourselves with new ideas.”
Director Prof. (Dr.) Gautam Sutradhar, in his address, reiterated his commitment to positioning NIT Jamshedpur among the top 50 institutions in the country.
He presented a roadmap for the institute’s all-round growth and urged everyone to work together with a positive and forward-looking mindset.
Sunil Alagh brings with him decades of leadership and corporate experience. He is the Founder and Managing Director of SKA Advisors, a strategic advisory firm, and the former MD & CEO of Britannia Industries Limited.
A graduate in Economics from St. Xavier’s College and an MBA from IIM Kolkata, Alagh has served on the boards of prestigious organizations like Prasar Bharati, United Breweries, Gati Limited, and Indofil Industries. He also advises Hannover Re, a leading German reinsurance firm.
Known for his dynamic presence in the business world, Alagh was the host of “The Job Show” on CNBC India — the country’s first televised job hunt program. He has also served as President of the All India Management Association (AIMA) in 2004.
Among his many accolades, he was honored with the Kashalkar Memorial Gold Medal in 2000 for his contribution to India’s food processing industry and was a finalist for the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in 2002.
