
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The 25th Sub-Junior Jharkhand State Basketball Championship 2025 for Boys and Girls concluded in grand fashion with a vibrant closing ceremony at Govind Vidyalaya, Tamolia.
Held from May 28 to May 31, the tournament was jointly organized by the Jamshedpur Basketball Association and the Saraikela Basketball Association, under the aegis of the Jharkhand Basketball Association (JBA).
The closing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Chief Guest Raj Kumar Singh, Ex-ZIP Vice President, and Guest of Honour Sakil Mehendi, City Manager. Also gracing the occasion were Mr. Harbhajan Singh (President, JBA), Mr. Pradeep Mukherjee (Treasurer, JBA), Brahma Dutt Sharma (Managing Director, Govind Vidyalaya), Abhishek Sharma (Secretary, Govind Vidyalaya), Rajesh Sharma (PRO, Govind Vidyalaya), and Krishna Modak (Principal, Govind Vidyalaya).
Although Mr. JP Singh, India Team Coach and Secretary of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, could not attend in person, his strategic guidance was instrumental in ensuring the championship’s smooth execution.
The tournament witnessed the participation of over 250 young athletes from across Jharkhand, showcasing impressive skill, determination, and sportsmanship over four days of competitive play.

All winning teams and top performers were felicitated with medals and trophies during the closing ceremony, celebrating their achievements and commitment to the sport.
The championship was held under the official rules and regulations of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and was technically supervised by Mr. Arif Aftab, with support from a proficient team of officials including Mr. Jalal Shaikh, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Nizam Ali, Shaban Ul Haq, Nagesh, Amit Kumar Sharma, Azhar Khan, Anjali, Supriya, Sneha, Kinkar, Rahul, Sushant, Harsh, Harish, Priyanshu, and Ravi Kumar.
Live coverage and online streaming were efficiently managed by Vishal and Deepak, allowing for widespread digital viewership and real-time match updates.
A major highlight of the championship was the selection of 24 promising players—12 boys and 12 girls—who will represent Jharkhand at the upcoming Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
The successful organization of this milestone 25th edition not only reflects the growing basketball talent in Jharkhand but also showcases the commitment and collaboration of the state’s basketball associations in promoting the sport at the grassroots level.
