UditVani, Jamshedpur : The southwest monsoon has started its retreat from parts of the country, even as Jharkhand braces for light to moderate showers over the next few days.
According to the IMD, sporadic rainfall is likely at isolated places in the state on October 7 and 8, with the weather expected to turn largely dry thereafter.
The monsoon withdrawal line currently runs through Veraval, Bharuch, Ujjain, Jhansi, Shahjahanpur and further east. Favourable conditions are building for its further withdrawal from additional parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra within the next three to four days.
Weather experts attribute the expected rainfall to two cyclonic circulations — one over East Uttar Pradesh up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, and another over northeast Bihar between 1.5 and 3.1 km. These systems are influencing Jharkhand’s weather temporarily before dry conditions set in.
The monsoon performance over Jharkhand has been normal this year, ensuring good rainfall across most districts.
With the retreat phase underway, clear skies and cooler nights are expected later this month.
