UditVani, Jamshedpur: The southwest monsoon has officially entered its withdrawal phase, signaling the gradual end of the rainy season across large parts of central and eastern India.
Over the next few days, Jharkhand is set to experience mainly clear skies and dry weather as monsoon clouds make their final retreat.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the current line of monsoon withdrawal passes through 18.5°N/72°E, Alibag, Ahilyanagar, Akola, Jabalpur, Varanasi, Raxaul and 28°N/86°E. Meteorologists said that conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal from the remaining parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar — as well as the entire Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, and portions of West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, and Telangana within the next 72 hours.
Forecast for Jharkhand
Oct 11: Partly cloudy sky with dry weather likely.
Oct 12–14: Mainly clear sky with dry conditions expected across most districts, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and Dumka.
Meteorological analysts indicate that daytime temperatures may gradually rise by 2–3°C as cloud cover reduces and humidity levels decline.
Early mornings and nights, however, could turn slightly cooler — an indication of the seasonal shift toward autumn.
Synoptic Situation
A Western Disturbance is currently observed as a cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining areas at around 3.1 Km above mean sea level, with an upper-air trough in the mid-tropospheric westerlies roughly along longitude 75°E north of latitude 30°N.
Meanwhile, another cyclonic circulation persists over south Bangladesh and adjoining north Bay of Bengal, extending between 1.5 and 5.8 Km above mean sea level, tilting southwestward with height.
Realized Weather
During the past 24 hours, monsoon activity remained weak over Jharkhand, with only light rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms reported in pockets of Simdega, and Latehar. Most parts of the state remained dry.
With the withdrawal phase well underway, the IMD expects clear skies, dry air, and a gradual drop in humidity to dominate Jharkhand’s weather through mid-October.
The period marks a transition toward the post-monsoon and early winter season, typically characterized by stable atmospheric conditions and pleasant mornings.
