
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, marked the successful conclusion of its four-day annual sports festival Ignite 2025 with a grand closing ceremony held in a well-organised atmosphere.
The event witnessed the felicitation of winners and runners-up from various sporting disciplines, while vibrant cultural performances infused the campus with energy, joy and celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Registrar Dr Gulab Singh Azad underlined the importance of sports in shaping the overall personality of students. He stated that sports play a crucial role in promoting physical fitness while cultivating discipline, leadership qualities, teamwork, patience and self-control—values essential for success in both personal and professional life.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Braj Mohan Pat Pingua, in his inspiring address, emphasised that participation in sports is indispensable in the modern competitive world. He noted that sports help students develop mental resilience, relieve stress and enhance confidence and decision-making abilities, encouraging them to adopt sports as a regular part of their lifestyle alongside academics.
Chief Guest and Chancellor Prabhakar Singh motivated the participants by highlighting how sports instil discipline, perseverance and a strong sense of purpose. He also announced a blood donation camp to be organised at the university on December 22, 2025, elaborating on the humanitarian and social importance of blood donation and appealing to students, faculty and staff to take part in this noble initiative.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sports In-charge Anil John, who credited the success of Ignite 2025 to teamwork and collective dedication. He expressed sincere gratitude to the university leadership, faculty members, administrative staff, medical and security teams, volunteers and students for their unwavering support.
