UditVani Jamshedpur: In a decisive crackdown on social media-fuelled criminal posturing, the Old DDI AOP police in Jamshedpur have arrested three youths for flaunting illegal firearms in viral photos circulating online.
The trio — identified as Ritesh Singh, Ashok Gupta, and Raj Kumar Mukhia alias Raj Baccha — were taken into custody following swift raids carried out by a specially constituted police team.
The arrest comes after disturbing images of the youths displaying country-made pistols were widely shared on social media, sparking fear among local residents and raising concerns over public safety.
Acting promptly, the police launched a targeted investigation and successfully tracked down the suspects.
During the operation, the police seized two country-made pistols — one black and silver, the other silver — along with a touchscreen mobile phone used to share the images. Officials confirmed that the accused have a known history of criminal activity and had been under watch even prior to the incident.
Preemptive Policing Prevents Potential Escalation
Law enforcement authorities stated that their quick response helped avert what could have been a far more dangerous scenario. The entire operation was executed in a planned manner under the leadership of the Old DDI AOP officer-in-charge, with the accused being apprehended soon after they were identified.
The arrested individuals are currently undergoing intensive interrogation. Police are probing the source of the firearms and exploring potential links to organized criminal networks or illegal arms suppliers.
Meanwhile, the police have issued a public advisory, urging citizens to report any suspicious behavior or illegal activities immediately to the nearest police station. They also cautioned against circulating or endorsing unlawful content on social media platforms.
This incident serves as a strong message that glorifying crime through social media will not be tolerated. The Jamshedpur Police have reiterated their commitment to taking firm and uncompromising action against such offenders to uphold peace and public security.
