UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Friday submitted a formal memorandum to IndiGo Airlines, outlining key feedback and requirements gathered from local passengers and the business community. The Chamber emphasized that increased flight frequency and improved connectivity from Ranchi would significantly contribute to regional trade, tourism, and industrial growth.
SCCI President Manav Kedia stated that enhancing air connectivity from Ranchi is not merely a matter of convenience for travellers but is directly tied to Jharkhand’s economic development and the competitiveness of local industries. “We are confident that IndiGo, as a leading airline, will recognise the strategic importance of this region and respond positively to our appeal,” he added.
Key Demands
The Chamber presented the following specific proposals to IndiGo:
– Resumption of the Ranchi–Jaipur direct flight or a flight with a technical stopover in Delhi.
– Introduction of a direct Ranchi–Goa flight (both ways) in view of rapidly rising travel demand to North and South Goa.
– Restarting the Ranchi–Srinagar flight with a brief layover, which had earlier received strong passenger response.
– Increasing frequency on the Ranchi–Mumbai route, as business travel demand continues to grow steadily.
– Restoration of free seat selection and meal options under SME fares to support small and medium enterprises.
The Chamber noted that improved air connectivity would help unlock Ranchi’s economic potential, attract greater investment, and facilitate faster integration with India’s major commercial hubs.
