
Jamshedpur : South Eastern Railway (SER) has achieved a historic milestone in freight transportation during the financial year 2024-25, setting new records and surpassing previous achievements. SER successfully recorded a freight loading of 212.37 million tonnes, marking its highest-ever performance. This represents a 0.36% increase in originating freight loading compared to the previous year.
Among its divisions, Chakradharpur and Adra have significantly contributed to this success:
Chakradharpur Division recorded a freight loading of 154.04 million tonnes, reflecting a 3.25% growth over the last financial year.
Adra Division achieved a freight loading of 29.12 million tonnes, marking a 4.16% increase from the previous year.
Revenue Generation
SER’s freight loading operations generated an estimated revenue of ₹18,949.83 crore in 2024-25.
Key Milestones Achieved
In addition to setting a new benchmark in total freight loading, SER has accomplished several remarkable milestones:
* Best-ever single-day loading: 1.78 million tonnes on March 31, 2025 (30.9% higher than the previous record).
* Fastest 200 million tonnes loading: Achieved in 349 days (by March 15, 2025).
* Best-ever coal loading: 55.56 million tonnes, a 4.23% increase from the last financial year.
* Best-ever container loading: 2.43 million tonnes, reflecting a 44.8% increase.
* Best-ever fertilizer loading: 0.92 million tonnes, up 16.2%.
* Best-ever B.O.G loading: 6.41 million tonnes, growing by 4.43%.
This outstanding performance underscores South Eastern Railway’s commitment to efficiency and growth, reinforcing its pivotal role in India’s freight transportation network.
