
UditVani, Jamshedpur : SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone) conducted an extensive training session on cognitive behaviour, road safety, and fire safety at the Kerala Samajam Auditorium, bringing together nearly 600 students, parents, and SAFE coordinators from 29 schools across the city.
The initiative aims to introduce innovative and practical approaches to reinforce safety awareness among schoolchildren.
The session was inaugurated by Nandini Shukla, Principal, Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS), and Saroj Kumar Banerjee, Chief, Safety Raw Materials Division, Tata Steel.
Addressing the gathering, Banerjee encouraged students to participate actively and make the most of such interactive learning opportunities.
The Road Safety module was conducted by Prof. Sunil Sarangi of XLRI Jamshedpur, who highlighted behavioural science, communication cues, and practical strategies to ensure safe mobility.
The Fire Safety session was led by Abhay Ranjan, Senior Manager, Fire Technology, Tata Steel, who explained essential fire-prevention techniques and emergency response measures.
Moon Mitra, Convener, SAFE, informed that the programme was specially designed for students from Classes IX to XII, along with their parents and school coordinators. She added that SAFE will continue rolling out similar sessions on relevant safety themes as part of its sustained efforts to build a safety-conscious student community.
The event also featured an engaging question-and-answer segment where students interacted with experts and sought insights on various safety-related concerns.
SAFE currently operates across 32 schools in Jamshedpur, 4 in Jharia, 7 under OMQ, and 7 under West Bokaro Division, under the chairmanship of Ms. Ruchi Narendran.
The initiative continues to receive strong support from Tata Steel through a structured annual plan dedicated to strengthening safety education in schools.
