UditVani, Jamshedpur: A case of theft involving jewellery worth around Rs 20 lakh has been reported from the residence of Shah Faisal, a Junior Engineer at Tata Steel.
The incident took place in Jawaharnagar, Road No. 14, under the Mango police station area.
The theft came to light when Faisal’s wife went to retrieve jewellery from a room on the first floor while preparing to attend a wedding ceremony in Golmuri.
On opening the cupboard, she found that the bag containing the jewellery was missing.
According to Faisal, the locker was shut, but its key had been left outside on the table. It is suspected that the thief used the key to access the locker and steal the valuables.
The family immediately informed Mango police, who arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed.
Faisal noted that there were no signs of forced entry, raising suspicion that someone known to the family may be involved.
Police are probing all possible angles in the case.
