Jamshedpur, Mumbai : On the 92nd birth anniversary of Reliance’s visionary founder-chairman, Dhirubhai Ambani, Reliance Foundation unveiled the recipients of its prestigious Undergraduate Scholarships for the academic year 2024-25. This initiative celebrates the foundation’s commitment to fostering talent and empowering the leaders of tomorrow.
Nurturing Young Talent Across India
This year, 5,000 outstanding first-year undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds across India have been awarded scholarships. The program not only recognizes academic excellence but also supports students from underprivileged and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, underscoring Reliance Foundation’s mission to shape the nation’s future.
An Inclusive Selection Process
Nearly 1 lakh applications were received from students in every state and Union Territory, reflecting the program’s extensive reach and appeal. Candidates were chosen based on their Class XII results, performance in an aptitude test, and financial need.
Key statistics of this year’s cohort:
- 70% belong to households with an annual income below Rs. 2.5 lakh.
- 83% scored above 90% in their Class XII examinations.
- 147 students with disabilities were included, ensuring inclusivity and equity.
- Recipients represent 540 districts and study in over 1,300 institutions nationwide.
Holistic Support Beyond Financial Aid
Each selected scholar will receive Rs. 2 lakh in financial grants to cover tuition fees, hostel expenses, and other educational costs, allowing them to pursue their academic ambitions without financial constraints.
Beyond monetary support, the program offers:
- Mentorship and personal development opportunities.
- Access to skill-building workshops, seminars, and training programs.
- Guidance for enhancing both technical and soft skills, preparing scholars for future leadership roles.
Scaling Ambitions with a Decade-Long Commitment
In December 2022, on Dhirubhai Ambani’s 90th birth anniversary, Nita Ambani, the Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, pledged to award 50,000 scholarships over the next decade. This makes it India’s largest private scholarship initiative, aimed at creating a transformative impact on the nation’s educational landscape.
Since then, 5,100 scholarships—5,000 for undergraduates and 100 for postgraduates—are granted annually, reaffirming the foundation’s dedication to nurturing talent and fostering growth.
