UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a tragic turn of events on Independence Day, Jharkhand’s Education Minister Ramdas Soren breathed his last late on Friday night.
The confirmation of his demise came at around 10:45 pm through his official Twitter account, where a heartfelt message accompanied by his photograph announced the news. The message, shared by his son, conveyed profound grief, informing that Ramdas Soren is no longer among us.
The announcement has cast a pall of gloom across the state, plunging political circles, supporters, and admirers into deep mourning.
A senior leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Soren was widely respected as a prominent tribal voice in the state’s political landscape.
As Education Minister, he played a pivotal role in shaping progressive policies aimed at enhancing literacy, strengthening school infrastructure, and expanding access to education in Jharkhand’s most remote regions.
Born into a family with strong political roots, he carried forward the legacy of the JMM—founded by Shibu Soren and currently helmed by Hemant Soren.
Known for his simplicity, deep connect with grassroots communities, and relentless commitment to the upliftment of marginalized groups, Soren’s passing is regarded as an irreparable loss to the tribal movement and to the state’s education sector.
Condolences have been pouring in from across the nation. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, cabinet colleagues, opposition leaders, and citizens from all walks of life have paid rich tributes.
Social media platforms, too, are flooded with messages of grief, remembering him as a leader who always placed the people of Jharkhand at the heart of his work.
Soren’s final journey began with a sudden stroke at his residence in Ghorabandha, Jamshedpur, on August 2. He was initially rushed to a local hospital and later air lifted to Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, for advanced treatment. Despite the tireless efforts of a team of specialists, his condition remained critical, and he succumbed after days of intensive care.
Representing the Ghatshila constituency in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, Soren’s untimely demise has left a void in the state’s political and social fabric. For the tribal community, in particular, his absence marks the end of a significant chapter of leadership and advocacy.
