UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur is set to witness a moment of deep spiritual and national significance with the proposed visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who will perform the Bhoomi Pujan and lay the foundation stone of the Shri Jagannath Spiritual & Cultural Charitable Centre Trust’s ambitious spiritual complex on February 26.
Announcing the development, S.K. Behera, Managing Trustee of the Trust and Vice Chairman of RSB Global, said the project places a strong emphasis on youth empowerment, spiritual education, and cultural values.
The Spiritual Centre, which forms the first phase of the larger temple complex, has been prioritised to become operational well before the completion of the main temple.
Behera noted that the initiative is being driven by the sustained efforts of a committed core team comprising Manoranjan Dash, Abanish Mishra, P. R. Dash, Shridhar Pradhan, and other members, who are closely coordinating logistics, community engagement, and spiritual protocols for the high-profile ceremony.
The Trust is actively reaching out to social, educational, and spiritual organisations across the region, seeking collective participation to ensure the centre evolves as a shared institution of learning, values, and service for society at large.
Envisioned as more than a place of worship, the Spiritual Centre aims to serve as a sanctuary for the younger generation, particularly students and research scholars.
“Our vision goes beyond rituals. We want to support holistic personality development and provide a moral and intellectual foundation rooted in spiritual sciences and cultural heritage,” Behera said, adding that while the full temple complex may take around four years to complete, the Spiritual Centre will begin serving the community much earlier.
Following this, the grand Shri Jagannath Temple will rise as the architectural highlight of the complex.
Spread over 2.5 acres and constructed entirely of stone, the temple is expected to emerge as a major pilgrimage destination for devotees from Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha, giving a significant boost to religious tourism in the region.
Construction work is already underway at a steady pace.
Recalling the long journey behind the project, Behera said the land for the temple was allotted during Murmu’s tenure as Governor of Jharkhand.
“We faced numerous challenges, including encroachments and legal hurdles. Witnessing the Bhoomi Pujan now, by the grace of Mahaprabhu, is an emotional and historic milestone for all of us,” he said.
After the Bhoomi Pujan, the President -known to be a devout follower of Lord Jagannath -is expected to address the gathering.
The Governor of Jharkhand has also been invited to attend the ceremony. Thousands of devotees are likely to participate, and elaborate arrangements have been made for the distribution of Bhog to attendees.
In keeping with Behera’s humanitarian vision, the centre will also function as a hub for philanthropic initiatives, including support for girl child education and healthcare for the underprivileged.
The President’s proposed visit -her second to the Steel City within two months -underscores the national importance of the project and its envisioned contribution to the social and cultural fabric of a “Viksit Bharat.”
Notably, the visit is subject to final confirmation and official notification by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
