
UditVani, Jamshedpur : In a heartwarming gesture that left residents elated, President Droupadi Murmu stepped out of her vehicle in Baridih to greet people and distribute chocolates to children after concluding her programme in Kadma.
Following the event in Kadma, the President’s convoy proceeded via Marine Drive, Kharkai Link Road and Mango Roundabout, reaching Baridih through the Bhuiyandih route.
A large crowd had gathered outside Manipal Tata Medical College, where people -especially women and children -had been waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of the President.
Many waved the tricolour and raised slogans of “Rashtrapati Zindabad” as the convoy arrived.
After the programme at the medical college, President Murmu noticed the enthusiastic crowd lining the roadside and instructed her convoy to stop.
She then stepped out of her vehicle and walked towards the people, personally greeting them and acknowledging their presence.
The unexpected gesture sent waves of excitement through the gathering, with many visibly moved to see the President up close.
Demonstrating warmth and affection, the President distributed chocolates to children in the crowd.
She walked nearly 150 steps, interacting with the public and accepting greetings.
Throughout the interaction, security arrangements remained tight and orderly, ensuring there was no disruption.
A young girl present at the spot expressed her joy, saying the President personally handed her a chocolate.
Local resident Parvinder Kaur shared that she had been waiting for hours for a glimpse of the President.
“The moment she stepped out of the car, our happiness knew no bounds. Her behaviour was extremely simple and affectionate. She blessed my daughter after giving her a chocolate,” she said.
Another resident, Uday Kumar Singh, remarked that he had never imagined the President of the country would visit their locality and meet people so closely.
The President’s visit has filled the entire area with a sense of pride and celebration.
