Jamshedpur : The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), one of eastern India’s most influential business associations, is set to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee with a grand inauguration ceremony on Sunday, May 25.
The prestigious event will take place at the Fasy Auditorium of Loyola School, Jamshedpur, marking 75 illustrious years of the Chamber’s service to the industrial and business community of the region.
The celebration will be graced by none other than Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who will attend the ceremony as the Chief Guest. This marks a historic moment for the city, as it will be the first-ever visit by a Lok Sabha Speaker to Jamshedpur, a fact that underscores the growing significance of the region on the national map.
Joining him on the occasion will be several key national figures, including Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, and Jamshedpur Member of Parliament Bidyut Baran Mahato.
SCCI General Secretary Manav Kedia revealed that more central ministers are likely to participate in the landmark event, making it a high-profile gathering of policy-makers and industry leaders.
SCCI President Vijay Anand Moonka expressed great pride in the Chamber’s enduring legacy, stating, “Founded in 1948 and officially registered in 1950, SCCI has grown to become the voice of more than 2,500 members, directly and indirectly representing over two lakh individuals. This Platinum Jubilee celebration is not just a commemoration of our history, but a beacon for the future of commerce and industry in the region.”
Moonka further emphasized the significance of the upcoming ceremony: “It’s a matter of immense pride that Jamshedpur will host such a distinguished gathering. For the first time in history, a Lok Sabha Speaker will witness the vibrant culture and dynamic spirit of our city. This event is not just a celebration; it’s a milestone that marks our evolution and contribution to the economic fabric of the nation.”
In keeping with the grandeur of the occasion, SCCI has lined up a month-long series of events to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee.
These events will feature prominent personalities from various walks of life, including business, politics, arts, and culture. The celebrations aim to highlight the Chamber’s role in shaping regional development and supporting entrepreneurship across Singhbhum and beyond.

Om Birla, born on November 23, 1962, in Kota, Rajasthan, is a prominent Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). With a master’s degree in commerce from Government Commerce College, Kota, and Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, Birla has combined his academic background with a commitment to public service.
Early Political Career
Birla’s political journey commenced with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP. He served as the District President of BJYM in Kota from 1987 to 1991, then as the State President for Rajasthan from 1991 to 1997, and subsequently as the National Vice President from 1997 to 2003.

In 2003, Birla was elected to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from the Kota South constituency, defeating Congress candidate Shanti Dhariwal.
