
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Public Health Centre (PHC) Ghorabandha, operated under a public-private partnership with Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), has been awarded the prestigious Kayakalp Award for the year 2024-25.
The award, instituted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, recognizes health institutions that excel in maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control.
The evaluation and recommendation are carried out by the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC).
PHC Ghorabandha will receive a prize amount of Rs 2 lakh, which will serve both as an incentive for healthcare staff and to support further infrastructure and service development at the centre.
The PHC also serves as a Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), thereby playing a dual role in delivering community healthcare and providing hands-on training to medical students.
About the Kayakalp Initiative
Launched in 2015 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Kayakalp initiative encourages public health facilities across India to maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control.
Health centres are assessed on parameters like sanitation, hygiene, biomedical waste management, infection control practices, and community participation.
Winning the Kayakalp Award is a mark of excellence and enhances the credibility of the healthcare institution in the community.
