Jamshedpur : A major scare unfolded on Saturday aboard the Tatanagar-Kharagpur MEMU train (No. 58021/58022) when a fire broke out near Ghatshila station, sending passengers into panic.
Brake System Malfunction Sparks Blaze
The incident occurred when the train’s braking system reportedly failed as it neared Ghatshila. The uncontrolled speed led to intense friction between the wheels and the tracks, generating sparks that quickly escalated into flames.
Passengers Leap from Moving Train
As thick smoke and flames engulfed parts of the train, terrified passengers began jumping off the moving coaches. Several sustained serious injuries, and many lost their personal belongings in the commotion.

A potentially catastrophic accident was narrowly avoided due to the timely actions of the train driver and crew, who managed to bring the train to a halt close to Ghatshila station.
