UditVani, Jamshedpur: With New Year celebrations approaching, the district administration and police have intensified security measures across the city to ensure public safety.
City SP Kumar Shivashish said strict action will be taken against any violation of law, warning that negligence or indiscipline during celebrations will not be tolerated.
As part of the security plan, 32 checking points have been set up at strategic locations, manned jointly by police and traffic personnel. These teams will monitor rash and drunken driving, riding without helmets, triple riding and other traffic violations.
The special checking drive will be conducted on December 31 from 9 pm to 2 am and again on January 1 from 12 noon to 5 pm. The traffic police have also launched focused anti-drunk driving and anti-rash driving campaigns to prevent accidents during the festive period.
In addition, hotels and lodges across the city are being inspected to curb illegal activities. Senior officers at the DSP level have reviewed security arrangements at major public spots, including Jubilee Park, P&M Mall, Modi Park and Dimna Lake, where surveillance and safety measures have been strengthened.
Police personnel in plain clothes will be deployed in crowded areas to keep watch on eve-teasing, unruly behaviour, substance abuse and any suspicious activity. Citizens have been advised to contact emergency number 112 in case of need.
Extending advance New Year greetings, the City SP urged residents to follow rules, remain alert and celebrate responsibly in a peaceful atmosphere.
