UditVani, Jamshedpur : The political landscape of the Jugsalai Municipal Council witnessed heightened activity on Tuesday as Naushin Khan, wife of Jharkhand State Minority Commission Chairman Hidayatullah Khan, formally filed her nomination for the post of Municipal Council Chairperson.
The occasion was marked by an impressive display of public enthusiasm and participation.
Ahead of the nomination, a large gathering of supporters and local residents assembled at the Jugsalai Eidgah ground. From there, a well-organised and peaceful procession proceeded to the collectorate, resonating with slogans and spirited support. The strong presence of women, youth and senior citizens reflected Naushin Khan’s growing appeal across social sections.
On reaching the collectorate, she submitted her nomination papers and later addressed the media, stating that public service -not politics -was her primary motivation. She assured that, if elected, her focus would be on addressing core civic issues such as sanitation, drinking water supply, roads and healthcare facilities.
She added that she had been actively serving the people of Jugsalai even earlier and would work more closely at the grassroots if entrusted with responsibility.
Emphasising democratic values, Naushin Khan remarked, “Contesting elections is a constitutional right. Ultimately, it is the people’s court that will decide who has the strength and credibility.”
Her husband, Hidayatullah Khan, who was present during the nomination, said that Naushin Khan has long been engaged in social work and has a deep understanding of local issues.
He expressed confidence that voters would support development-oriented and honest leadership.
Following the nomination, Naushin Khan visited the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) contact office in Sakchi, where she sought blessings from senior party leaders and interacted with party workers. She reiterated her commitment to the holistic development of the Jugsalai Municipal Council area, with special emphasis on civic infrastructure and public amenities.
With multiple candidates in the fray, the Jugsalai civic election is expected to be closely contested.
However, the scale of support witnessed during Naushin Khan’s nomination suggests a charged and keenly watched electoral battle ahead.
