Udit Vani Jamshedpur : In a major development in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics and organized crime, Mango police arrested the mother of notorious criminal Wasim ‘Baccha’ in a late-night operation at her residence on Azadnagar Road No. 5.
The woman was caught red-handed selling brown sugar, a highly addictive and banned narcotic substance.
Police sources revealed that the arrest came after a carefully planned undercover operation. One day prior to the raid, a decoy customer was sent to the suspect’s residence to confirm the illicit activity. Upon verification of the drug deal, a special team conducted the raid on Wednesday night, arresting the woman as she was handing over a packet of brown sugar.
A total of 18 packets of the illegal substance were recovered from the premises during the search. The seized material has been forwarded to a forensic lab for detailed analysis.
Officials suspect that the woman took over the drug operations after her son Wasim Baccha’s imprisonment, turning their house into a local hub for narcotics distribution.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Mango police station confirmed that the accused has been booked under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. She remains in custody and is expected to be remanded to judicial custody later today.
Police have launched further investigations to trace the network behind the drug operation and have not ruled out the existence of a larger syndicate functioning in the area.
